Incoming Freshman
Timeline for incoming Freshmen for 8th grade students from local feeder schools
1. Sometime during February of the 8th grade year, the FUHS counselor visits each feeder school and meets the students for the first time. The counselor will present general information about the high school. Students will be able to obtain class registration forms for fall classes and ask any questions about courses, life at high school, college planning, transitioning, etc.
2. Students will need to return class registration forms by the end of February.
3. Usually in April, incoming Freshmen parents are invited to attend Freshmen Parent Night here on campus. During this event, parents will meet the counselor, administration and freshman teachers.
4. In May students are invited to FUHS to tour the campus, which is led by FUHS student leaders.
5. In August before school starts, incoming freshmen will need to come to "Back to School" Days with their parent in order to pick up schedules, fill out forms and take pictures for their ID cards. Usually about the same time, freshmen parents will be invited back in the evening for another parent night. This time, parents will get more specific information on rules and school policies and also be able to pick up student schedules and meet their student's teachers.
6. In August before school starts about the same time as "Back to School" Days, incoming Freshmen are invited to attend the Link Crew Orientation at FUHS. This is a fun event and students will be able to meet students from other feeder schools, do fun activities and have another tour - this time usually with their class schedules in hand. That night, they will be able to attend their first high school dance!
7. School begins usually at the end of August.
8. Sometime in the Fall, parents will be invited to attend Open House - where they will actually go to their student's classroom and listen to presentations from their student's teachers.
